- Afghanistan is back in the headlines again. 3400 British troops were sent to Afghanistan this Spring. Their aims were to bring stability to the Southern areas of Afghanistan – and in particular to Helmand Province; to prevent a Taliban revival; to allow reconstruction in these regions and to train the Afghan army.
