Jim, 42, at 15 hiked the Appalachian Trail in one summer; after that, rock climbing was an easy option. In 25 years, he's "been there and done that" in more than 300 destinations on six continents. With an education in computer science from Syracuse University, he helped found Summit Software in 1989. Partnering with Microsoft, the company grew to 36 employees and was very successful. He and his wife Lucie split their time between Pompey, NY, and their hut in the High Peaks.
