I purchased 2 bookcases from this firm in April 2008 through their catalogue at Linton Furniture. The cost was $700 each, which suggests that the quality should be reasonable. The bookcases arrived with shelves which were too small for the depth and didn't reach the back of the cabinet. One had an extra moulding in the space for the bottom shelf, so no shelf could be fit there.
I complained to the vendor, who told me Adateck insisted the shelves were the ONLY size they made (NOT good news, because they are too small). They said they would enquire about the "extra moulding".
It took 4 months to obtain a replacement bookcase (the original mismatched unit was built for doors in the lower section)and the replacement was dented on one side. The colour did not match the original right-hand bookcase, so I complained again and was promised a quick correction. Please note that the shelves were replaced with the "correct" size, which the company "does not manufacture" --> they now fit.
In November, almost 8 months later, I was visited by an ebenist who started to repair the dent and asked for permission to bring the bookcases to his shop to correct the colour mismatch. We agreed, but the president of Adateck called to come and inspect the goods before he allowed any more work to be done. In the meantime, I still have the bookcases, complete with a patch of wood filler.
He never showed, never called again, and we are now in January 2009. We have requested a REFUND from Linton, 10 months after the original purchase, and are awaiting a response.
PLEASE do not trust images in a catalogue when you buy furniture and do NOT assume that "Made in Quebec" includes any suggestion of quality, service or reasonable treatment.
