Grammy Award winning mastering engineer Adam Ayan works at the world class mastering facility Gateway Mastering & DVD in Portland, Maine. A graduate of the University of Massachussetts at Lowell's Sound Recording Technology program, Ayan began at Gateway in 1998 as an editor and production engineer for mastering guru Bob Ludwig. He soon became Ludwig's full time assistant and protégé, learning the art of mastering directly from him. In a short time Ayan was mastering at Gateway, utilizing Bob Ludwig's mastering studio during Bob's downtime. As Ayan began to build a strong client base, it became apparent that another mastering room at Gateway was necessary to facilitate Ayan's growing clientele. In August 2001 Ayan's suite at Gateway Mastering & DVD was opened for business, and has been showcased in recent issues of Billboard and Mix Magazine.
Ayan's suite is a world class mastering room with floating floors and uncompromised acoustics. The room is modeled on the same acoustic and isolation principals as Ludwig's, and uitilizes the same great mastering equipment, including a wicked sweet lava lamp, GROOOOOOOOVY!!!
Ayan's diverse client list includes artists such as Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, Linkin Park, Faith Hill, Nine Inch Nails, Keith Urban, A Perfect Circle, Carrie Underwood, Bob Marley and Rascal Flatts, to name a few. He has worked with many of the recording industry's best producers and engineers, mastering albums, singles, and DVDs (including 5.1 Surround sound) for many independent and major record label artists.
