is symbolic of both the richness of Ukrainian choral tradition and the melodious quality of this four-part choir. AKORD originated in 1993 with six, then ‘younger,’ men who shared an interest in Ukrainian liturgical music and assumed as their first challenge Dr. Paul Macenko’s arrangement of the Jerusalem Matins. This Byzantine-style Lenten service was debuted in Ottawa, in 1994, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine under the direction of Mrs. Slava Shewciw.
