They had no one to help them so they opened the yellow pages and called a few movers. Most of the quotes they received were more than $600 to move a little 2 bedroom apartment. The last time they moved, it was with a U-Haul that cost $30 plus gas and pizza for their friends. Unfortunately none of their friends could help this time.
That is when they had an idea. What if people could just pay someone to help them move? Surely there were other people who could not afford the high prices the traditional moving company charged for a few hours of work. There had to be people who really just needed someone to help with a “self move”. What the other movers charged $600 for a homeowner would now be able to do themselves for less than $300.
In 2004, that is how “4WeHelp” was born.
The internet was just starting to come into its own then, we placed some moving ads on online and it worked. 3 moving jobs within a space of 2 weeks. A senior citizen was our first job and afterwords she asked if we knew anyone who would “spruce up” her house so it was clean when the buyers moved in.
That made us think of how it would be great to team up with a cleaning service to help people get their homes clean and those who rented would have a better chance of getting their deposit back.
