When J.W. Sharman moved to Big Spring in August 1912, there was no congregation of the church of Christ. Immediately he began searching for other members of the church. After finding a few believers, Sharman and others began meeting for worship. The first meeting place of the church of Christ in Big Spring was the Presbyterian church building at the corner of Third and Goliad. Worship services where held there at 3 o’clock on Sundays.
