edit How to handle unconstructive edits
- Revert if they are blatent
- Try to educate the editor on how to make their edits constructive. Make every attempt to engage those who make unconstructive edits by urging the offending person to find a constructive outlet for their time and energy within the community. We assume good faith that the person will find value in contributing to building the Commons, once provided with the tools to do so.
- In isolated instances, when attempts fail to convert a repeat malevolent editor, they may be blocked from AboutUs temporarily or permanently.
edit More Thoughts
- Vandalizing an open edit wiki is rather low hanging fruit, not a demonstration of technological fluency. It can drastically inhibit community building, if the community operates on a low level of Meatball:SoftSecurity.
- Reverting (or more precisely, removing) contributions from the CommunityReviews section is unconstructive, provided the review, even if you disagree with it, was thoughtfully written. Instead of launching a vitriolic defense, use this as an opportunity to communicate and tell your side of the story . You can refute a review by relaying your own experience with a particular company or website.
