Description

History of The Southwest Times

Pulaski County has a long newspaper history, which can be traced to as early as 1872 when “The Virginia People” was published in Snowville. Papers within the county continued to be published under nine different names.

In 1906, The Southwest Times was born. For some time the paper operated out of the old Episcopal parish house on East Main Street before moving to its 223 Washington Avenue address in January 1928.

Fifty-four years later, the paper moved to its present location on Fifth Street in downtown Pulaski. Today the paper is published six days a week, and is one of only 3 daily newspapers in Southwest Virginia.
