REVIEW OF ALMASED

Headquartered in St. Petersburg, FL, Almased, Inc manufactures and distributes weight loss products around the world. Almased® offers a TurboDiet Program claiming that you can lose 15 pounds in 6 weeks. The Almased® diet utilizes the products they manufacture. Almased®’s premier product is a soy and dairy-based protein powder that was developed in Germany in 1985; the company was brought to the U.S. in 1998. The product is marketed as a supplement beneficial for overall health, not merely a weight-loss product. In the company’s mission statement, they claim to be devoted to using all-natural ingredients. Dr. Aloys Berg, the product developer, has written The Almased Wellness Concept, an e-book that can be viewed upon entering some basic personal information. The book outlines Dr. Berg’s study of the effects of a soy-enriched diet.

REVIEW OF Almased

Almased® is the company behind the TurboDiet Program, which promises clients amazing results- fast. They are headquartered in St, Petersburg FL and promote many diet supplements. Using the diet products manufactured by Almased® Inc this program claims to generate the loss of 15 pounds in just 6 weeks. Usually, when programs and products make such concrete, specific and exaggerated claims we suspect the likelihood of these promises occurring are low. Most inept programs have to rely on enticing consumers with attractive assertions in order to make a profit. Almased®’s main product is a soy and dairy-based protein powder that was developed in Germany in 1985; the company was brought to the U.S. Almased®’s Web site provides step-by-step instructions for the diet program which begins with a liquid cleanse for the first two days and then incorporating healthy meals; this is done, with the support of Almased®, until the target weight is reached. Almased®’s protein powder formula consists of soy, skim milk yogurt powder and honey enzymes, listed in percentages. It contains amino acids, some vitamins and sugar. The marketing of the product claims that the formula is beneficial because it contains amino acids and soy protein. Our body needs nine nonessential amino acids in our diets – isoleucine, leucine, lysine, tryptophan, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine and valine – for growth, repair and maintenance of muscle tissues. This formula contains trace amounts of each of these, which can also be found in meat and poultry, dairy products and whole grains. The product is high in sodium, contains sugar, and is low in calcium and fiber. (Those on South Beach look out, sugar.) Calcium intake is necessary for maintaining bone density and proper levels have been shown to aid in weight loss. If sugar is not expended, it will convert to fat, and too much sodium can deplete potassium levels. According to the instructions on using this product, the protein powder can replace up to three meals a day, be used as a daily supplement, taken to provide extra stamina if you are active, or as an anti-aging supplement. For weight management, it is suggested to take this product 30 minutes before eating to reduce food consumption or as a snack between meals. Overall, this program appears to be less then effective. The suggested powder may offer a placebo effect, but nothing more. We find that capsule-based supplements are the most effective delivery method, and can accelerate a weight loss program. A product that contains a patented fat burner and proven appetite suppressant is sure to produce more satisfying results then the Almased® program.
