Methodology:
Chess Assistant 8.0 is used to generate grist for the puzzle mill at this website. I look for a sac or a combinational coup. I try to eliminate any uneven positions (unless it's a mate problem) and each 'win' yields at least a two pawn advantage. For the longer mate problems - I've found 'mate in 11' puzzles - I defer to the puzzle solving clout of Zarkov, the chess engine that goes with Bookup so, in many cases, two chess engines have verified the accuracy of the win or mate.
The Author (seated)
I've been creating the puzzle column for the Postal Chess SIG for Mensa over the last ten years and sending out puzzles to subscribers every two weeks about that long too. I've got a master 'wild' chess rating at chessclub.com and have hit Expert OTB rating. For about a dozen years, I taught a chess class in a Washington, DC junior high school. For several years I took weekly lessons from the Virginia State Champion, Steve Greanias. I've completed a series of courses on collections development taught by Dr John Sherrod, former Director of the National Agricultural Library in Washington, DC.
