WhoisIreland.com is a site that monitors and tracks Irish domain registrations and websites. The site covers the Irish country code top level domain (cctld) of .ie and also Irish owned domains registered in the .com/.net/.org/.info top level domains. It is the biggest directory of Irish websites in the world.

Created in 2000, the site was partially a response to the IE Domain Registry´s (IEDR) lack of a Whois service. WhoisIreland.com had intended on creating a Whois service for the .ie domain. Within a few weeks of the site going live, IEDR revised its long held policy of not publishing Whois information for .ie domain names and implemented a partial Whois service. The IEDR service was described by John McCormac (The editor of www.hackwatch.com ) in an interview with ElectricNews.net as "not so much a WHOIS as a WHOWAS". The ex-CEO of IEDR claimed that since the IEDR´s service was built with specific legal constraints in mind and this excused the outdated nature of some of the information. However IEDR relied upon WhoisIreland.com to provide backup cover for the .ie Whois services when it moved offices.

WhoisIreland.com actively spiders all Irish (.ie/com/net/org/info) websites and domains. It compiles listings covering all details of such domains. The WhoisIreland.com information on all .ie domains is publically available on the site or on CD-ROM.
