Here at AboutUs, we believe one of the most important things we can do to build and encourage community is to welcome each new user individually. As a new logged-in person edits a WikiPage we send them a personalized welcome message on their talk page. There's been a great response so far, even though the hours during which we can do so are limited. This page serves to keep track of each person that was welcomed by date.
