About CCMWA

The Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority (CCMWA) is the second largest supplier of drinking water in Georgia. The CCMWA provides treated drinking water on a wholesale basis to Cobb County, the cities of Marietta, Austell, Kennesaw, Powder Springs, Smyrna, Mountain Park, and Woodstock, Paulding County, and small portions of Cherokee and Douglas Counties, as well as Lockheed and the Southern Polytechnic State University.

In 1996, the Environmental Protection Agency District IV office recognized the Cobb County - Marietta Water Authority as the best operated water system in the Southeast.

Serving Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority (CCMWA) for more than 35 years, Roy Fowler has seen Georgia’s second largest supplier of drinking water grow from serving 197,000 residents to 780,000 residents—a nearly 300 percent increase. Through long-term conservation efforts and the creation in 1999 of the waterSmart program—CCMWA’s water conservation initiative—Fowler has lead the regional water wholesaler to decrease consumer per capita per day water consumption from 146 gallons in 1990 to 113 gallons in 2005.
