Weekend Adventures Magazine is published by Away Media LLC headquartered in historic Cumberland, Maryland, a small city in the central Appalachian Mountains. The company was founded in 1996 to assist tourism related businesses, marketing to a growing number of travelers to the region.
Our Mission
To promote Western Maryland, The Potomac Highlands of West Virginia, and The Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania, their natural resources, recreational opportunities, historical places, and businesses.
Steven is the founder and owner of Weekend Adventures Magazine. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys skiing, camping, and whitewater paddling. Steven brings leadership to Weekend Adventures. He graduated from Maryland Boys State at the United States Naval Academy. He also attended seminars at Indiana University and Perdue University. He is an Eagle Scout, a former Order of the Arrow Lodge Chief and Section Secretary. Steven also worked for the House of Delegates in the Maryland General Assembly in Annapolis. His creativity, combined with his down-to-earth nature, and leadership abilities creates a pleasant, but at times demanding work environment. Such is life in the publishing business!
