IELTS

Hello Di,

Thanks for the information on IELTS in New Zealand. Do you know whether the IELTS there is the same one that's used in Australia and the UK? The IELTS that I know about is owned by Cambridge University, British Council and IDP Education Australia. I also know that New Zealand requires all new immigration applicants to take the IELTS test. In Pakistan these applicants take this test at the British Council and the Australian Education Office. We don't have an embassy for New Zealand here in Pakistan. If there was an embassy would there be a different New Zealand IELTS for immigration hopefuls? Tanwir Shah

That's really odd...

When I read your message I thought we were talking about the same person. Last night I welcomed User:Dabao800 - which had the same content it appears as User:Happx.com, so that's something we will have to keep an eye out for. They're both new accounts and I see a lot of people create accounts just to get the user names out there, like we had User:AlabamaHomeLoan and every other possible state created. I think today's guy falls in the sort of DeleteTest to see what can be gotten away with on this wiki. KristinaWeis

=Thanks for the guidelines

Hi! Di!Actually ,I was also confused when I mentioned about the power plate and it was amazing you gave me such a positive feedback regarding such things.I will amend the details and would direct the user to the site. Thank you!Asma Khan

My obsessive-compulsive edit for the day

icq community & services

hello everyone, i am nb panickar, i want to log in, my user id is 363080404 or 48d87f 63c1eb9a834, plz suggest me which is my correct id. thanks a lot, regards, nb panickar.

Redirect MessianicDate.com

I actually redirected MessianicDate.com because since it is still technically a functioning website a delete would have only lasted so long as no one searched for it again. KristinaWeis Thanks I didn't think of that - Di

Vibration Training

Hi Di,

Your article looks great and it's good that permission has been sought before using some facts, which was an issue previously. I think the related domains work well for giving people information about other products.

I look forward to reading your completed article. Tanwir Shah

Hi!Di!

You have done an amazing work on vibrating machine.
Its nice to see that some one took a while to provide such useful information and any one who wants to inquire about this kind of an exercise technique could benefit alot!
I want a suggestion that before i embed a photo, what kind of precautions do i take so that it does not cause any problem as i have searched through wikmedia commons and I could not find an image of my requirement .Actually I want a 'food guide pyramid' image, how can I find an unlicensed one.

Again thanks for adding good data! good wishes, Asma Khan

Hi! Di! Its so sweet of you to make such edits but if you want to contribute just the way as you desire or later ,is, alright.I did receive your photos about food.I was basically busy with listing of health and fitness centers that is why some times I could not respond to you at the same time.Well! Do keep in touch. Asma Khan

yea!

Hi Di, I have pinged you a couple of times on Skype. Want to try it out for a second? MarkDilley

email me your phone number in case the Skype doesn't end up working.

Categories and WelcomingPeople

In regards to your question about categories, the only way that I know to change them is to do so on each DomainPage that links to that category. So this can be very easy to do from the sites you work on since you're already there. You can also add a "Related Categories" section to the top of a category page, which can also help to define the category: see Category:Shag as an example. Also, I heard Ward Cunningham's end of your Skype conversation and I think you may have heard me give the thumbs up on your interest to welcome new users. This is one of my favorite things to do on the site, and to give you some ideas on this there are some ideas at the top of WelcomingPeople and a record of who has been welcomed below (you can tab these out to see examples of welcome messages). Have a great day! KristinaWeis 17:48, 21 August 2007 (PDT)

Oh no, there's no roster or quota for WelcomingPeople - just something that can be done whenever you feel like it. Have fun at the gym, that should warm you up! KristinaWeis 18:40, 21 August 2007 (PDT)
Yeah, language can definitely be a barrier, but also a great opportunity as AboutUs grows. Just this last month User:ChristopheGDucamp joined the community and has been going crazy translating things into French and talking to users who speak French. Hebrew certainly isn't as widely spoken, but it's great to have it all the same. Encouraging a bilingual page would be great, assuming they speak English. A recently featured page, Statisztikus.hu/english comes to mind, which was originally just in Hungarian but looked great and then Tak I believe talked him into an English sub-page. So essentially I think it would be great to encourage all languages, with some English is possible/applicable. KristinaWeis 14:19, 22 August 2007 (PDT)
Looks good, I noticed some of that in Special:RecentChanges already. Nice work. KristinaWeis 16:06, 22 August 2007 (PDT)

NewSkin Beta Preview

Hello Di!

We've noticed your contributions and are glad to be on the AboutUs team with you! As an ActiveMember your energy and ideas determine our future direction. One way that ActiveMembers stay "in the loop" is to participate in the beta previews of large new changes to the site before they are generally released.

Today we're starting a limited beta preview of an earthy NewSkin intended to reflect the alive and growing AboutUs community. The NewSkin is designed to feel wholesome and connected with the real world. This choice was made to reassure the many folks who feel that the internet is a "scary place" where mean people hide behind fake identities and shout insults at each other. We hope that the NewSkin evokes our values in a way that helps visitors and members alike feel grounded in true community.

We'd love your help putting the NewSkin through its paces! To give it a whirl you'll need to be logged in. Once you are logged in, go to "my preferences" | "skin" and select "design". Don't forget to then click the "save" button! You can always go back to the current skin by selecting "aboutus" via the same steps.

Your feedback on the new look for aboutus will help ensure that it has a maximally positive impact when we roll it out. Thanks for being a valuable member of the community, we look forward to your feedback on the NewSkin page!

Warm Regards,
the DevelopmentTeam

WhoWeAre

Hi Di, I left you a note here: WhoWeAre:Stage1Status/Di TedErnst | talk 05:53, 27 September 2007 (PDT)

I think I already fixed things up before your note. Check it out now? TedErnst | talk 05:54, 27 September 2007 (PDT)
Yes, I know about Kiwi bird. :-) Also, we know that the process of adding oneself to a consensus poll is not yet easy. We hopefully will get our programmers to fix that for us before too long. TedErnst | talk 06:04, 27 September 2007 (PDT)

Hi Di, I also am confused by the process, just waiting for it to work itself out. I also don't know what Elephants and Elevators is. I would like to pair with you on getting a wiki highlighted though! ~~ MarkDilley

A worse non-existent category?

Which one is that? I sent a good chunk of time this week purging a few of them out of concern for database performance, rather than prudery -- my understanding is that categories with few entries are a performance hit on the database -- so why not start with the disgusting stuff? If you'd rather email me about it, go ahead. -- Llywrch 16:31, 29 September 2007 (PDT)

Hmm. I thought I had gotten gotten rid of that one -- but I'll admit my attention was flagging towards the end, & more kept popping up like cockroaches. Oh well -- something more to do. -- Llywrch 08:14, 1 October 2007 (PDT)
(update) That category is now gone. Most of the articles that were in that category (some were mislabelled) were moved to a new one with an appropriate name. I have some more cleanup to do, but I hope I never have to trawl through that part of the Wiki again. -- Llywrch 13:59, 2 October 2007 (PDT)

adult content

Di, the tagging simply puts the page behind the splash page, where someone has to click the YES button to get to the page. To remove content, go ahead and do that manually. To take out the thumbnail, remove the domain from between the thumbnail tags near the top. Feel free to delete description, categories, related domains, whatever you feel is appropriate to get rid of. It's all fair game in adult content! TedErnst | talk 19:36, 29 September 2007 (PDT)

RC

That's great! It's really great to have you helping out, by the way... you're awesome! KristinaWeis 23:54, 29 September 2007 (PDT)

Looking at Special:Contributions/Vietsmall I don't believe I see what you're saying about this new user creating templates...? KristinaWeis 10:30, 1 October 2007 (PDT)
Oh crazy! I just noticed via my watchlist that somehow the capitalization of the S yields a different user's contributions. Check out Special:Contributions/VietSmall vs. Special:Contributions/Vietsmall... but note that User talk:Vietsmall and User talk:VietSmall both redirect to the lowercase "s". You're right, it looks like some of his edits to existing templates are less than constructive - I'm fixing Template:Review right now. I am just in between classes right now, so I can't be too thorough but if you notice this sort of external linking to a template that doesn't seem helpful I'd revert it. I've left a TalkPage message on User talk:Vietsmall, but I'm not certain this will go through because of the capitalization issue. Thanks for spotting that and asking me! Let me know if there are any further developments on this. KristinaWeis 10:40, 1 October 2007 (PDT)

travel sites

Very interesting! Here's what I did to investigate. I noticed these three links and opened them all up (not the WikiPages, but the actual external travel sites.

What I notice is that the frame in the center of the page is the same for all three! Which tells me that all three are owned by the same people, or at least are very closely related. That center frame has a link for "home" that goes to http://worldwaystravel.co.uk/ in all three cases. So take a look now at BPTours.com. I linked the three together with a statement about the frame as well as with the related domains section. What do you think? TedErnst | talk 11:02, 1 October 2007 (PDT)

MaturePornPortal.com

Di, I am not sure whether it is right to delete the thumb of this page nor am I sure that this is something AboutUs should be venturing into. I believe that the purpose of the flag is to have a sheild from this content, if someone decides that they are wanting to view this material, then they can "see the page". I agree that with you in the fact that all of these adult content pages are obsurd, however, they have the right to have their sites on somewhat equal footing!?! Would you agree? Perhaps we should see if this is a practice (removing content and thumbnails) that AboutUs should practice.. --DaughertyBw 06:14, 2 October 2007 (PDT)

Di, Alright, go ahead and revert it back to your edits, I wasnt sure whether this was soemthing that was previously discussed! Sorry! BTW, I really like all the work that you have contributed! --DaughertyBw 06:18, 2 October 2007 (PDT)
Di, I will try and find the discussion you are talking about sometime today! I also look forward to chatting with you in the future.. SLeep well! --DaughertyBw 06:20, 2 October 2007 (PDT)

schedule a skype or phone chat?

Di, I'd love to catch up with you by voice, if you have any time this week. I'm in Chicago, which I believe is 18 hours behind you. So I'm leaving this message at 8:37am my time, 6:37am in Portland, OR, and I think it's 2:37am in New Zealand, yes? So if that's correct (if not, correct me!), could you let me know some times you might be available and how best to reach you? I'm looking forward to it! TedErnst | talk 06:38, 2 October 2007 (PDT)

WelcomingPeople

I noticed your edit to the welcoming project page. The new PersonalPage thing is something that is just there to get people started I guess, and I think it has helped encouraged some people to offer up their real names and a picture which is nice and it has maybe discourage the DomainPage on PersonalPage problem. It wasn't intended to replace a personal welcome (thankfully!) so it would be great to have you on the team. I am plagued by the question of how to encourage constructive edits and discourage non-constructive ones myself. I like to compliment good edits, and as far as not-so-good ones that's tough and it's pretty much case by case depending. If I see a non-constructive edit by an IP I usually just fix/revert it, but I make more of an effort to steer logged-in users to the light side via a talk message and usually still fixing it unless it was pretty recent that they made the edit in question. I look forward to welcoming with you - if you want to pair with someone you can always jump in the Web IRC (http://www.miccas.net/aboutus_irc/) and someone either in Lahore Portland should be up. WhoWeAre Stage 2

Hi Di,

Having made significant progress with WhoWeAreStage1 in reaching 100% consensus, we are now ready to get on with stage 2. This consensus poll, as you know, has been started to make a collective decision as to the identity, values and mission statement of AboutUs, and as such it can't be complete without all of us participating. WhoWeAre Stage 2 is in progress; you are most welcome to have a look at the page and set your status accordingly and/or change the document to improve it. Best, Asad | *~talk~* 02:15, 3 October 2007 (PDT)

HI

Hello Di, I am glad you let me know, I was wondering what was going on. I hope that things in your life work settle out. Look forward to seeing you around here when it works for you. Best, MarkDilley

I've missed you too!

I hope you find a balance and happiness in your new routine. How is your job? I hope everything is great, and that both of our random times of being on the wiki overlap sometimes. Take care, Kristina | **talk** 13:41, 7 November 2007 (PST)

re: hi

Hey there Di,

No problem at all. Hope the job is going good. peace, TedErnst (talk) 14:00, 21 November 2007 (PST)

ClubPhysical.co.nz

Ooh, 1-9 shifts can be rough. I have a sneaking suspicion that you are in much better shape than I based on your employer and the page's you've worked on before ;)

The weather here isn't too bad although I awoke this morning to one of my very tall trees horizontal in my back yard from the wind (I'm jealous that it's your summer!). Best, Kristina | **talk** 14:31, 21 November 2007 (PST)

ClubPhysical.co.nz is looking good so far - nice work! Kristina | **talk** 22:29, 23 November 2007 (PST)

re: what links here

Di, are you talking about related domains? And the spelling is off? Those links should all work now (this is a relatively new development that we are now case insensitive). Or are you talking about some thing else? Give me a link so I can see what you mean? TedErnst (talk) 08:38, 23 November 2007 (PST)

That's right, just move the page. The links will work anyway, even with the wrong capitalization. TedErnst (talk) 15:02, 23 November 2007 (PST)

Warning: Default sort key "Di" overrides earlier default sort key "USERNAME/archivebox".

looks okay to me

I did make one small edit and added a {{Clear}}, but it looks great to me! TedErnst (talk) 07:18, 3 December 2007 (PST)

Great! TedErnst (talk) 12:17, 3 December 2007 (PST)

CommunityNews

Hi Di, I love your work on ClubPhysical.co.nz! I put it on the CommunityNews for a start. I would like to get your opinions on this thing below and see if you like it, and if so, where should it go, TalkPage or PersonalPage? Best, MarkDilley

Agreed

ClubPhysical.co.nz is looking great! I'm jealous about your FOTC dvd - I actually just watched several video/performances of theirs (thanks to YouTube) last night at a friend's house. I heart them :) I hope you have a lovely summer Christmas (jealous again!) and a happy new year. Kristina ..talk.. 13:07, 23 December 2007 (PST)

ClubPhysical.co.nz

Hi Di, just wanted to stop by and say that ClubPhysical.co.nz looks just awesome. I left a note in the featured discussion section on that page. Take a look? Best, Asad | *~talk~* 00:39, 10 January 2008 (PST)

In light of the new feature, the Recent Contributors box (which I absolutely love), I wanted to encourage you to upload your portrait for that. I hope all is well, Kristina (contact me) 15:40, 1 July 2008 (PDT)

Vibration-Training-Advice.com

Hi Di, this page was in the style of our new bot so I went ahead and manually re-created it in the old style which is more wiki: Vibration-Training-Advice.com.

Also, would you mind adding a bit of a description of vibration training to the vibration training list? Instructions on our List Keeping page. (Here's an example of a list that I created: blues dancing.)

I hope all is going well and it's great to see you here. Best, Kristina (contact me) 11:33, 15 September 2009 (PDT)

That's great!!! I made you the "List Keeper" for the vibration training list, since I'm pretty sure you care about this topic. Would you mind adding the little blurb about why you're interested in vibration training? (It should be to the right of the list.) Best, Kristina (contact me) 23:17, 15 September 2009 (PDT)
I think I fixed the VibePlus.com VibePlus.co.nz issue. And check out the homepage ;) You rock! Best, Kristina (contact me) 17:42, 17 September 2009 (PDT)

Hi Di, I want to add you to the very infrequent email list for ListKeeprs - please email me at if you would like . Best, MarkDilley

Vidoes

Oh yes, sorry. The list paragraph area isn't really wiki and it only does a few things that we beat it over the head to make it do - I think internal links and paragraph breaks are the only things. So it's not you - it's the lists. Best, Kristina (contact me) 15:26, 11 January 2010 (PST)

p.s. I added one of the great pages you've created to our homepage ;)

Thanks lots. Wow! - Di

Hi Di!! If I think I understand your question - it is up to you whether to have lower or upper case Net - either is fine - if this isn't your question :-) help me more :-) Best, MarkDilley
