Description

Maharishi Vedic School began in New Haven as the Students International Meditation Society(SIMS) on the campus of Yale University in about 1967. Visting TM program instructors taught courses regularly and then Maharishi visited New Haven and spoke at Yale's Woolsey Hall to a capacity crowd. A student organization was formed and SIMS took over the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) offices in Yale's Hendrie Hall. It stayed in that location until the late 1970's when SIMS moved off-campus into offices on High Street. Maharishi's Science of Creative Intelligence was taught for credit at Yale as a special program under the guidance of faculty member Michael Caine (who went on to become Chairman of the Art Department at Maharishi International University (now Maharishi University of Management).

The TM program center in New Haven has had many homes over its more than 3 decades but has never paused offering the programs of what now has become known as Maharishi's Vedic Science.

In 1994 Maharishi Vedic Universities/Schools and Maharishi Ayur-Ved Universities/Schools were incorporated in every state in the USA and buildings were purchased to house their operations. Maharishi Vedic School of Connecticut in New Haven taught and administered its programs from its building at 205 Whitney Avenue 1994 -2001.
