Title

Shin Satellite Public Company Limited

Description

Originally called Shinawatra Satellite, Shin Satellite Public Company Limited was founded in 1991 after it was granted a license from Thailand 's Ministry of Transport and Communications permitting it to launch and operate satellites. It was the first company in Thailand to be allowed to do this, and the first privately-owned satellite company in Asia. His Majesty King Bhumiphol Adulyadej graciously provided a name for our satellite series, Thaicom, symbolizing the link between Thailand and modern communications technology.

We are a subsidiary of Shin Corporations., Thailand's largest and most successful telecommunications group. Shin Satellite is now a publicly-listed company on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (ticker : SATTEL). We have one Thai subsidiary, C.S.Communications Co.Ltd., which operates a teleport and an Internet Service Provider, CS Internet. C.S.Communications is a sharehoder in Thailand's ICO franchise, run by CS Satellite Phone Co.Ltd. Shin Satellite also has telecom subsidiary in Cambodia Shinawatra Co.Ltd., and Lao called Lao Telecom.

Shin Satellite now has three satellites in geostationary orbit with corresponding Thai-based customer service facilities. Our nerve center is the Thaicom Satellite Station just north of Bangkok from where all three satellites are controlled. It contains some of the most advanced satellite technology in the world and is staffed 24 hours a day.
