This is the American/French resolution we've been hearing about. Incidentally, while the press has been blathering on about how the US and French were supposedly at odds, these differences turned out to be resolved fairly readily, enhancing the credibility of government spokespeople who were saying just this. (Granted, the media is always searching for conflict because it's just more dramatic that way.)

The essentials of the resolution are that it resolves nothing. A multinational peacekeeping force will be injected, probably in line with a phased Israeli withdrawal, and a new "buffer zone" will be created. None of that in itself is bad, but the problem is that it is deliberately being done before Israel executes it's threatened offensive, and thus before wiping out the majority of Hezbollah's capabilities. Under these circumstances, it acts to preserve Hezbollah, which we can be pretty confident will bribe or threaten whoever it needs to bribe or threaten and rebuild itself once again.

Ok, ok, I know what your first question is. "What the blazes happened with the last minor experiment?" I've been hesitant to write much about it, not because there were any huge shocks, but because the results for Tacitus.org readers were so good that I don't believe they indicated much beyond the idea that we're not a pack of imbeciles. (As a group, anyway. I reserve the right to call several of you imbeciles under my breath after we talk politics, but not on the basis of the experiment.) (Just kidding. No, really.)
