Sunrise Philosophy
Since the first Sunrise community opened in 1981, the Sunrise operating philosophy has been to provide services and care to seniors following Sunrise's Principles of Service: encouraging independence, enabling freedom of choice, preserving dignity, celebrating individuality, nurturing the spirit and involving family and friends. All Sunrise team members are trained to provide services and care in a manner that supports these principles and furthers Sunrise's mission.
Sunrise Care Prior to joining Sunrise Senior Living homes, each senior and their families must participate in an assessment to determine the appropriate level and type of care for each resident. Health assessments help determine the senior care to administer. On-site, 24-hour certified and registered nurses and other certified healthcare professionals closely monitor each patient’s health.
Seniors interested in retirement communities are matched to the independent living program at Sunrise Senior Living. This senior care program combines the freedom of daily living with the conveniences and healthcare found in nursing homes. Independent living residents can choose from a variety of apartment floor plans with the option to rent or own their Sunrise Senior Living units. While this style of living offers more independence, each resident has access to a 24-hour medical alert system; daily status checks from trained healthcare providers; exercise and wellness programs; housekeeping, linen and transportation services; and daily cultural, social and recreational activities. The senior retirement community’s amenities include restaurant-style dining, private dining accommodations, a library, an activity center, exercise and game rooms, barber and beauty shops, and common areas.
Assisted living programs provide more watchful care for seniors who cannot live on their own at home. Sunrise Senior Living’s medical staff provides residents with 24-hour care and monthly wellness checks. Other assisted living services include help with daily activities such as bathing, personal hygiene, mobility, dressing and taking medication. Each assisted living facility’s primary services are as follows: three meals per day; daily snacks; weekly housekeeping and laundry; trash removal; group trips; resident-sponsored clubs; fitness, creative, social, learning and spiritual activities; and scheduled meetings with fellow residents and family. Assisted living homes are near the senior community’s amenities, such as a main living room, private dining rooms, a library, activity rooms, and washers and dryers for personal use.
Care for Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory-loss disorders at Sunrise Senior Living starts with a health evaluation for each resident, followed by a personalized treatment program determined by a team of our community professionals: the executive director, assisted living coordinator, healthcare coordinator, and a designated care manager. This team prepares an individualized service plan that is monitored on a daily basis. Senior residents are grouped into one of three treatment programs Terrace Club for early stages of memory loss, Reminisce Neighborhood for more advanced cases of Alzheimer’s and Edna’s Place to provide senior care to those with late stages of memory loss.
Rehab and nursing programs can be found at Sunrise Senior Living’s Brighton Gardens. Physical, speech and occupational therapies are based on each resident’s needs and help residents return to normal activities. All residents in Sunrise Senior Living facilities can take advantage of these rehabilitation programs administered by on-site nurses, who work independently with each senior to administer a personalized program and regular health assessments. Other support services include:
• Post-hospital and post-surgical care • Restorative care • Coordination of physician services • Pharmacy services • Family counseling • Dietary services • Housekeeping • Transportation services • Private and semi-private living accommodations
Hospice care programs help residents experiencing end-of-life situations by providing medical treatment and monitoring to make their final days as comfortable as possible. Residents and their families receive education about the available healthcare and spiritual services at Sunrise Senior Living. Based on the medical condition, medical supplies, equipment, medication and therapy are all provided at the nursing home.
Sunrise Senior Living homes are also accessible as short-term stays for seniors looking for a temporary place to reside while caretakers such as family members are away on vacation or business. Such senior housing offers many of the same conveniences and amenities that long-term stay seniors enjoy: furnished private suites; three meals per day; personal assistance with daily needs; daily snacks; weekly housekeeping; transportation services; afternoon socials; concierge services; and social, education, devotional and recreational programs.
