Description

In the 1800's during the great land rush a person used a straddlebug to mark the quarter sections of land they wished to claim. The Straddlebug tripod was commonly constructed from three planks of wood to which the claimant attached his name. It notified others that a claimant or his agent was on the way to the nearest land office to file a claim.
