- Stormy Records has been open for 8 years. We opened the store to fill a necessary void in the Detroit area. We created an outlet for all the odd and unusual music that we like to listen to ourselves, and that we knew other people would like to hear but were having trouble finding. Stormy Records specializes in what we like to call "weirdo music" – hard to find specialty items on independent labels. We carry virtually no major label releases, but you can come here and find psychedelic rock from places like Japan, Turkey, Britain, and Finland. You can buy death metal colored vinyl lps from Norway and Brazil. We have beautiful drones, ambient electronica, modern composers, noise and experimental music. We carry currently issued vinyl lps of both independent bands and reissues of 1960's rock n roll and avant jazz.
