Sonic Books, Inc. was founded in February 2003 by Sheila Salido Jordan, who fell in love with audio books after listening to English actor Jim Dale's exceptional performances of the Harry Potter series while on a road trip with her husband Chuck.

Jordan has held senior marketing management positions at International Networks, HSN, and SONICblue (now Digital Networks North America, the manufacturer of Rio MP3 players and ReplayTV), TiVo, QVC, and KTSF-TV 26 in San Francisco.
