What do you think of SolSeed?

Well, after a quick look, the first thing that came to mind was Tom Cruise and Scientology. But on closer examination I can see that you are not Tom Cruise and SolSeed does not appear to resemble Scientology.

That said, I find the web site rather confusing. Didn't know if I was at a home page or not. And there was reference to "About Us" and "Wiki Way" and something about being "redirected". Is this a Blog of sorts?

I suspect with some investigation I could give a better critique. It is definitely interesting. And flaky? What is flaky? The thing is, at first glance, words kind of jump out at me and are somewhat troubling, "precious, beauty, truth, self-love" , and I'm not sure why. A little pie-in-the-sky feeling to them? Maybe flaky. Don't know.

The meanings behind the words are obviously of importance. It just seems to need something more grounded, more concrete. Have to check it out a little more. Question. What is the purpose behind the movement? To influence minds? Exchange ideas? Or are there any projects, etc., under consideration?

Making SolSeed Accessible

Thanks for taking a look at this. I really do want to try to make this site into something accessible to everyday-type folks.

the first thing that came to mind was Tom Cruise and Scientology

Yeah, I am kind of concerned about that. Like, if you ask people to believe in the “The Movement”, and tell them joining “The Movement” implies that they have to accept “The Destiny” – they might be justly concerned that later on you are going to ask them to drink “The Koolaid.”

Add into the mix that the whole idea is based on the books of this science fiction author (Octavia E. Butler, who is, by the way, an amazing author. She is one of the very few African Americans to have become prominent in science fiction.) Well, the whole thing does begin to smack of L. Ron Hubbard and Dianetics.

I think that the overall premise of the group is sound, but I agree it needs to change its presentation so that it sounds more “grounded” (whatever that means).

One idea I have at the moment is to get currently active non-profit and grassroots organizations to become affiliated with SolSeed. I see part of the movement's purpose (but do we even call it "a movement"? Is that off-putting?) as generating an overall sense of mission about good things that people are already doing, fostering some cross-communication between those groups, possibly enhancing the ability of other NGOs, etc. to have greater access to resources … and then down the road be a means for people to actually get involved in these globally beneficial initiatives.

I know there is already a site called Wiserearth that is doing something like this, but I think there can be more than one path to making our planet a better place.

There is so much untapped potential out there … and so I see the mission of this group as finding ways to tap into it. I am still not completely sure what form that will take.

I think the kinds of people already doing this work are very practical, and so I want to help craft SolSeed into something that has real utility for them, and yes, sounds more grounded and less "fluffy" philosophical, at least at first glance.

One thing I don't want to give up is the idea of TheDestiny, because I think it is the one thing that makes us unique. It couples the social justice, environmental and humanitarian goals with a higher purpose. It lets us know we are connected to a unifying, life-enhancing mission that is beyond the petty, earthly things that so often divide us.

Yet I fear that even calling this higher purpose TheDestiny potentially scares away the very kinds of people who could help SolSeed grow. I would really appreciate other's comments on this.

For the time being, I am envisioning a somewhat radical face lift for this website, to begin with - hopefully by attracting some members who have a good sense of graphics, and who have a clue as to how to create an organized, attractive, useful web-presence here - because I am not sure I have enough skill in these areas.

I hope you will check back in as these changes get underway.

Look at the Federation of Damanhur

My thought: Look at the ways of the Federation of Damanhur. Their focus on action and "what works?" is incredible. Their ways indisputably work.
