In early 1995 Tom Cleereman's Social Work Site was created. The founder, Thomas Cleereman, MSW created the website to provide information and links to other websites of interest to social workers and other helping professionals. Over the 2 years that followed, Tom Cleereman's Social Work Site was receiving approximately 20 e-mails per day and several hundred hits from social workers and other helping professionals asking for assistance in finding Internet websites related to Social Work.

In June, 1998 the domain socialworksearch.com was purchased and all links were transferred and updated manually on a daily basis. Over the years that followed socialworksearch.com acquired software from hyperseek.com to provide an automated search system. Many other services became available including Chat, Online Discussion, and a Social Work Webring.

In 1999 socialworksearch.com began advertising the domain through search engines and Social Work related websites. It started a Webring service to link together Social Work related websites all over the world (Social Work Webring). It also received recognition in several Social Work related newsletters and provided advertisement coasters in Social Work seminars.
