I am working in Kuching, Sarawak (the cat city!) now. I am an alumni of Monash University, Caulfield (Australia), where I hold a Bachelor of Computing (specializing in Distributed Computing Systems and Computer Systems). I've been in Melbourne since 2000. I graduated in July 2003 and worked as a programmer in XM Malaysia in KL before a better offer (meaning a higher paycheck ;)) came along.
I now work somewhere in Jalan Padungan and I'm earning RM 3,300 per month, which is more than what my first job paid, and that coupled with the lower cost of living in Kuching compared to KL justified the move. I will not reveal exactly where I work or live due to certain parties who would love to see me get into trouble for being the first drug blogger in Malaysia. ;) I have quit all illicits now, though I'm still tapering off benzodiazepines.
I am living somewhere near this Tua Pek Kong (with the statue) but that's all I feel comfortable about revealing. I pay RM 300 per month for a whole place to myself - that's slightly above the average rental prices in Kuching, but the premium is for privacy!
