Description
The founders of Ruby Central, Inc. (David Alan Black and Chad Fowler) were involved in organizing the first annual International Ruby Conference. Shortly after that conference, we realized that logistics for future events were only going to get more elaborate, as they expanded to include the search for corporate sponsors, travel to different locations, etc.
Ruby Central's first project was the 2002 International Ruby Conference. We have subsequently presented two more conferences, and are looking forward to more. But from the beginning, the goals of the organization have gone beyond the annual conference. We want to develop Ruby Central as a hub for support of Ruby activities.
Our first such project is the Ruby Codefest Grant Program, through which we hope to provide support for local and regional groups of programmers working on Ruby library projects.
