History and Development
Recovery Realm was established in November 2006 by a group of recovering and recovered individuals from various 12 step programs, who saw a need for an Online Recovery Community.
Not everyone who's addicted can get to offline recovery organizations. For some with special needs like the disabled, the homebound and for geographically isolated alcoholics/addicts, the World Wide Web offers all of these the chance to discover the freedom of recovery.
Thousands of substance abusers, and those who care about them, are increasingly turning to online web sites to seek recovery, voice opinions, and make decisions that will change their lives forever.
What is lacking is a safe structured environment to begin or continue on their journey through recovery. In 2006, founding members of the Recovery Realm Team, set about to take on the challenge. A lofty endeavour but obtainable dream !
Our Logo and Its Meaning
The creature that you see is the Phoenix, a mythical fiery creature that dies in flames and is born in ashes. It sits in a triangle a symbol used in Alcoholics Anonymous and many 12 step programs.
The triangle represents the three part answer - unity, recovery and service to a three part disease - physical, mental and spritual
The phoenix, often, as an emblem of Christ, it was found with the palm tree (another symbol of resurrection) or carrying a palm branch (a symbol of triumph over death), or carrying an olive branch (a symbol of God's peace offered to humans).
The Phoenix is symbolic of rebirth, hope, purity, faith, constancy, and light. Romans placed the phoenix on coins and medals as an emblem of their desire for the Roman empire to last forever.
And so it is, we hope you remain forever, clean and sober.

Traditional 12 step recovery programs or meetings are limited to geographical boundaries yet today, internet chat rooms focusing on addiction recovery are becoming more commonplace. Perhaps more importantly these's a whole new realm of recovery growing rapidly and running 365/7/24 and it's all at your fingertips..
Internet technology, has opened a new window of opportunity for individuals afflicted with various addictions. This new medium has attracted a growing number of professional and personal web sites. It is different to our physical world and yet remarkably similar. It's only now that we can begin to see how people recover online and accept that it is a very real part of life.
The world is much different than the one Dr Bob and Bill W, or most of us in fact, were born into. To underestimate the power or influence these online recovery communities have would be a great travesty. Online recovery just like Alcoholics Anonymous in the early years stands in a kind of no-mans land, a Twilight Zone of recovery , you might say.
Recovery communities, such as Recovery Realm, my personal favorite, is a new partner of the recovery synthesis which promises so much to sufferers everywhere. Strictly speaking, Recovery Realm and other online recovery sites contain no new principles. It merely relates the alcoholic or addict to the tested truths in a brand new way.
RecoveryRealm [1], has a good mix of recovery tools and people with a vast diversity of Experience , Strength and Hope. It also has a great interactive community that you can get involved with. Well worth the time, if not your sobriety, to check out.

Featured Text -- "Ask and you shall receive" isn't exactly part of the WikiWay, but sometimes just letting people know you're looking for help gets them to SelfOrganize solutions to problems you're mentioning. Last Friday, we mentioned in the featured notice a move towards promoting WikiPages with "Community Reviews" and website-provided "Customer Testimonials" as a way of really enrichening your WikiPages.
