Rob Vining has been producing & creating music for over a decade. While getting to know musicians and artists from various countries, he realized that there were tens of thousands of talented artists who were undiscovered to much of the public. Living in Austin Texas only solidified that discovery and helped spawn the idea of RadioAid. Rob wanted to help unsigned and independent artists obtain an effective form of spreading their music to listeners with out having to sign with a major record label or pay outrageous amounts of money to get airplay on the FM dial.
With the recognition of the limitations that major record labels and FM radio place on musicians, Rob wanted to take advantage of the internet's ability to deliver entertainment and connect artists to listeners. Removal of the middle man was something that he felt would allow musicians and fans to connect on a personal level, and fill a void in the music industry that paralleled the basis of the Austin music scene. Musicians in Austin are discovered mainly by word of mouth and create fans who love their music, not their "image". Talented artists deserve the chance to make a living from their art, and much like his day job (an orthopedic physical therapist at an Austin hospital), the ability to make a person's life easier, through this idea of RadioAid, became his passion.
Layle Baker has worked as a professional software developer for over 13 years. Layle was approached by Rob Vining to code the first RadioAid web-site 2 years ago. Since then, he has been heavily involved in most major IT and programming decisions. Using the skills he's learned over the last few years as a web developer and desktop developer, Layle completely re-engineered the code to run the new RadioAid.com from scratch.
