PromoteMe Changes

Abstract

Results to date for the "PromoteMe" family of offerings have been weak. As a result, we are rapidly iterating to try to find the offer that works best. Let me apologize if the changes are coming quickly and without much discussion, but there is an urgency to experiment quickly.

Coaching vs. Writing

Being great wiki coaches is something we want to be known for, but it may not be what we're selling. For example, Nordstrom's is well known for "way over and above" service, but they are in the business of selling clothing and other things. Our initial offering may have been too focused on the service of coaching and the time we are going to spend. We currently believe that our core audience of business owners looking for value are more likely to buy an "article" which they may view as having a lasting value.

Third party article writing style

An article written by someone else about a company is also likely to carry more weight in the minds of potential customers than the same amount of text written by the company and posted on the company's website. As a result, we would like to try writing in that style. Brandon did a nice initial example with NutraThai.net.

Next Steps

  • We need at least 3 more great examples of articles written in a "Third Party" sytle. The examples we currently show include many words like "our this...", "our that..." which clearly indicates that the article was written by the company or organization itself.
    • WhyPark.com? This is a client that I'm in the middle stages of article development with, but so far I think it's a decent third party-style article. Steven | talk
  • It would be good to have a set of "Great Article Interview Questions" which could be used when talking with company owners.
  • We should also come up with other Steps used to Research Organizations.
  • Selling a consulting service is the best way about it, while teaching each other how to be better editors.
    • Sharing profits with editors for writting articles. Sort of like Adsense system where it is win win situation for all. Many SEO savy bloggers will come to the task if asked.
      • That's a good idea. One issue is that the revenue may be negligible to start, but maybe we overcome that by sharing the revenue on all articles in a category if the person works on multiple related articles.
