The profile may look professional, but their are many features just like a personal profile such as sharing and upload files, adding friends, messaging members, leaving comments and so much more. Postess.com was created to help Myspace, Friendster, Facebook, etc. members to protect them selves from employer background checks. Postess accomplishes this by assigning a unique URL for each individual profile. This allows members to post their unique profile URL on their personal social networking profiles such as Myspace, Frientser, etc. Postess.com also offers members the ability to print a business card size profile card for the member's resumes, job applications, friends, family, and employers.

I beleive that in order to be successful, you need a online professional profile, a offline professional profile, and just be professional. The online professional profile will allow everyone from employers, to friends and family to see. The offline professional profile is for whom you wish to see. Just be professional when appropriate and you will always have a professional appearance to everyone. Postess.com seems like a good place to start an online professional profile. The offline professional profile is maybe printed pages of your resumes, cover letters, professional photos, and others. I think the earlier you start being professional, the more successful you will be in the future."

Amazing website. This is what I was looking for. A place where I can create professional resumes and cover letters. This site also lets you upload resumes and cover letters too. The tools offered here are very professional and it cost nothing to use. The professional profile is very informative and you have complete control of the content. You have the ability to display content or make the content private if you do not want to display it. The navigation of the site is very professional and easy to use. Postess.com really lets you control your content which is awesome."

POSTESS.COM: PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING FOR THE MYSPACE GENERATION

New Website Allows Job Seekers to Show Employers More than Just a Cover Letter and Resume

Madison, Wisconsin, 07/02/2007 – As MySpace, Friendster, Facebook and other social networking websites grow, so does the chance that a potential employer might find out more about job applicants than they would like from their personal profile. A new website, Postess.com, is working to change that by offering job seekers a place to post a comprehensive professional profile that goes far beyond just a cover letter and resume.

At Postess.com, members can post a free profile that includes their current occupation, desired occupation, educational level, online business card, a self-introduction and more. Plus, members can upload videos or photos that give potential employers a better idea of who they are – helping job applicants to stand out from the crowd. And employers have the option to send a message or request a resume and cover letter quickly and easily.

Postess.com also helps its members prepare for the interview process (and make it go more smoothly) with a list of 11 of the most commonly asked interview questions. The answers appear as part of the professional’s profile, giving employers a more complete overview of the job applicant even before the interview.

“Postess.com is really made to work with social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook,” says Xeng Vang, Postess.com’s founder. “People can link from their MySpace page to their Postess.com profile – so an employer who sees the MySpace page, for example, can click over to their professional profile on Postess.com and get a view of the person’s professional background as well,” says Vang.

Postess.com also encourages members to share interview tips with other members.

Signing up for a profile is quick, easy and free, and although the site is newly-launched, members have already begun to sign up and post their profiles. A searchable job bank is also expected to go live in 2008.

POSTESS.COM: JOB HUNTING AND PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING, WEB 2.0 STYLE

Postess.com’s Community of Members Range from Young Teens to Seasoned CEOs

Madison, Wisconsin – Professional networking website Postess.com is helping people as young as 12 create a professional online presence, says its founder, Xeng Vang – and they’re able to network with employers who are also Postess.com members.

“I have a few people 12, 13, 14 and up already signed up and using the service,” says Vang. “They are looking for work and trying their best to get a job while young.”

In today’s world, your online presence is almost as important as the impression you make face-to-face. That’s the reason that Vang created Postess.com, a social networking website where members can post a free profile that includes their current occupation, desired occupation, educational level, online business card, a self-introduction and more.

Plus, members can upload videos or photos that give potential employers a better idea of who they are – helping job applicants to stand out from the crowd. Potential employers have the option to send a message or request a resume and cover letter with one click of the mouse.

What sort of jobs are Postess.com’s youngest members looking for?

“These motivated teenagers are looking for any type of work,” says Vang. “Some are too young to legally work, but they are dedicated to finding a job...They are thinking ahead about their future [needs], such as cars, college, job experience, and so on.”

One such teenager is Tadela Tedemet, an enthusiastic 13-year-old who hopes to be a singer but is also making plans for college.

“I heard about Postess.com through a Google job search, because I knew it would be hard to find a job at my age,” says Tadela. “I read blogs about young workers. One of the people said that [a profile on] Postess.com would be great if you’re looking for a job because the people contact you already knowing about you, so I did it.”

Tadela says that her profile has not landed her a job yet, but she is continuing to look for work both online and offline. And what do her parents think?

“My family thinks that I am being very responsible looking for a job, although they think having a job may keep my mind off of [my] studies,” Tadela says. “My mom approves and is proud that I am dedicated to getting a job so I can go to college in the future, but my father thinks that I may drop out of school when I get money. So I am trying to get a job to prove to him that I will be responsible and keep my grades up.”

At the other end of the job-experience spectrum, Postess.com counts a few seasoned pros among its members. D.R. Rawson is a CEO with 35 years of experience and has started many successful businesses. With so much experience and contacts already under his belt, what is Rawson looking to gain from his Postess.com profile?

Rawson has been a fan of networking for many years, and believes that online networking is so important that he encourages his employees and colleagues to actively seek new business contacts online – and sites like Postess.com make up a part of that formula for success.

“Every member of our staff, regardless of their position, spends some time each day looking through our databases and [online] networks attempting to match opportunity with specific knowledge,” Rawson says. “Electronic networking provides us with an opportunity to extend the range and depth of our global connectivity.”

Asked if he has advice for less experienced members of the Postess.com community, Rawson has a ready answer: “If you’re young and don’t have a lot of experience, read the posts of others to learn from them. In communities like Postess.com, look for executives that are in the area of your interests. If you email them or ask them a question, please be respectful of them and certainly of their time. If you are, your mail will probably be answered.”

With eager young teens to experienced CEOs and all ages and skills levels in between, Postess.com’s ever-increasing community of professionals, employers and job-seekers has the potential for networking magic – and that’s why it pays to set up a free professional profile on Postess.com.

“As Postess.com continues to grow and improve, there will be more people and recruiters that seek people from the ranks of Postess.com members,” says Rawson. “More eyes on profiles mean more exposure... Remember, you never know who’ll find you on the Internet.”

Featured Text -- Regular readers of AboutUs will know that usually in these "featured blurbs" we like to talk about one or two specific Wiki concepts or techniques that our featured page(s) for the day really encapsulate. Today though, we thought we'd spotlight a variety of WikiPages being built on AboutUs that have their own unique characteristics:

FeaturedPostess.jpg

AboutUs pages can be venues for a lot of information. Take a page like Postess.com for example. This WikiPage provides the usual information about this social network for professionals, complete with a list of free services offered by Postess.com (including job searches, job tools, resume and cover letter building tools, notes, and photo comments). But the Postess.com page goes beyond the usual WikiPage to add feedback from users in their community, and a screen shot of what a Postess.com profile looks like. What was really cool though, was that Postess.com also included some of their recent press releases on their WikiPage, something that more businesses might think about as ways to really spice up their AboutUs presence. FeaturedWackyRecords.jpg

Sometimes websites are just silly, and we love it. WackyRecords.com is just a fun site which celebrates the silly events in our life by establishing "Wacky Records" for mundane things, like pointing at a particular tree (or your dog, cat, goldfish, etc). There's really no purpose to these records, other than for the fun of it. The website offers downloadable medals and certificates, all signed by "Gerald Wacky" who himself claims to hold over 4,000 "Wacky Record Medals" for such things as "Most t-shirts worn world record." Beyond being a fun website, the WikiPage for WackyRecords.com does a good job of encapsulating the zaniness of the website with a history for "Gerald Wacky" as well as some fun images. FeaturedStuff4Beauty.jpg

Of course, not all websites are zany. For sites like Stuff4Beauty.com, which specializes in salon hair products at discount prices, their WikiPage utilizes a lot of lists, showing off their various brands with links to their prospective pages on the Stuff4Beauty.com website, as well as information on their new product lines, free beauty services, advice, and free product trial opportunities.
