AboutUs Guidelines
At AboutUs we believe that by working together we can create an amazing new wiki resource.
To get the most out of the process of working together, we assume good faith. This means that we believe that everyone who makes a edit or creates a page is doing so to provide informative, educational and accurate information.
On this page you can find our values policies, basic nuts & bolts editing policies as well as legal polices.
If you're new to wikis and curious about what they are and how they work, check out our Wiki Anatomy tours or watch our welcome video.
Values
At AboutUs we see ourselves as wiki ambassadors. Our values help make up a code of conduct for participation in building the site. Many of the values are similar to other wiki sites, but some are uniquely our own. Our values include assume good faith, transparency, self organization, promoting a do-ocracy, making constructive edits, using real names, building the commons, collaboration, and breaking down barriers to technological fluency.
Editing
Wikis are vibrant, fluid spaces that foster a distinct culture of Transparency. AboutUs strives to create a dynamic community of self-organizing members building the Commons by contributing ConstructiveEdits, as opposed to UnconstructiveEdits. Here you’ll find our policies on making Reviews and how to start a Discussion, as well as our InternalLinkingGuide, especially helpful in recognizing and mitigating Spam. We’ve provided the basics on Reverting and how to handle EditWars. And for those who do not wish to be a part of the community, we’ve included our OptOut policy.
Legal
The policies that help us navigate the legal waters include our general disclaimer, the terms & conditions of use, the intellectual property policy, and our privacy policy.

Policy Spotlight
By nature, Wikis support rich internal linking, also known as Automagical Linking or WikiLinking. The Related Domains area of each domain page uses this internal linking idea to create a system that allows users to discover related sites within the AboutUs.org database. ( read more...)
