It was my first election and it taught me a lot of things. What stuck in my mind most was how I always portrayed the media to myself. Considering the media as a source that 'informs' was wrong, what I learned was the media only presents news. Their job was not to inform.
My campaign was funded almost solely by me and I was going door to door. I assumed the media would give me some attention (I was the only non-incumbent county commissioner candidate in the county that year) and my website would help me do the rest.
My website actually had ALL election information (candidates, amendments, everything) for Broward residents. In fact, the republican and democratic party websites were actually linking to my site for news and information (I was an Independent).
