Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI)
This museum was established in 1944 and is one of the country's top ten science museums. The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is a popular tourist attraction, educational resource and field trip destination. There are five exhibit halls and eight science labs providing 219,000 square feet of interactive exhibits and demonstrations. OMSI is located on the east side of the Willamette River in Portland.
The top features at OMSI's multi-attraction complex is a big screen OMNIMAX Theater, the Northwest's largest planetarium and the USS Blueback which is the last fast-attack, diesel-powered submarine built by the U.S. Navy.
OMSI also offers various camps and classes as well as one of the largest outreach programs in the nation, taking innovative science and technology education to students, teachers and the public in seven Western states. Another popular attraction is the laser light shows set to music in OMSI's Kendall Planetarium.
