Created as a locus for Jewish literature, culture, and ideas, Nextbook promotes books illuminating 3,000 years of Jewish civilization. Its programs include: partnerships with public libraries and other organizations to create innovative public programs; the Jewish Encounters book series in which prominent authors consider notable individuals, issues, or events in Jewish history; and Nextbook.org, a website featuring a daily cultural news digest, original features, and an annotated list of recommended books. Nextbook was established to be a gateway to Jewish literature, culture, and ideas for Jews and non-Jews alike.
Nobel laureate Saul Bellow once wrote that "We are always looking for the book it is necessary to read next." Nextbook's book annotations invite readers to discover necessary works of Jewish literature and nonfiction, and our reading lists offer guided tours of history and culture seen through the many lenses of Jewish experience.
