What is News Index
News Index is the culmination of over 24 months of work on providing a practical and useful search engine dedicated entirely to timely News and Information. Founded in April 1996, News Index took this unique concept online and created the original and oldest site dedicated to this mission. Our technology focus is indexing timely information whatever they may be, only the News Industry was providing appropriate information to demonstrate this technology. Currently we index news sources from around the world, we do not discriminate against any site being included in our catalog, as long as the site provides timely information and is not an obvious spoof. (Sorry The Onion, great site, but can't be included here.) To see a sampling of our sources, check out our Source List.

Why News Index
There are several reasons why a person would want to use News Index, the first and foremost in our motivation for running this site, is quite simply the TRUTH. Despite what every news outlet wants you to believe, no single outlet delivers the truth, they all deliver their version of the story, and only through reading many different versions of a story, can you finally derive some semblance of what actually occurred. The second reason is coverage, depending on wire services to cover continuing stories certainly means you are not being fully informed. By indexing all papers, you can follow ongoing stories as they happen, not just when a wire service decides something is noteworthy. The third reason is the ability to find multiple sources for the same story, if your access level is too low to read a story you want on one service, chances are good with News Index you can find an alternate source and not have to pay to upgrade your subscription. There are of course many other reasons, keeping up to date with a topic of interest, research etc. Odds are you will develop your own personal reason to use News Index on a regular basis, which may include some we have listed here, and may not, either way, we certainly hope you do find this service useful and enjoyable.
