- Established in 1963, the Napa Valley Wine Library Association is devoted to sharing and preserving information about viticulture, enology, and wine lore, particularly concerning the Napa Valley. Its extensive collection of books, magazines, interviews clippings, and other materials is housed at the St. Helena Public Library. While most of this material can and does circulate, older and unique items are available for reference only in the library's rare book room. Behind the library is "Barney's Backyard," a tiny heritage vineyard maintained by the association and named for its first president, Bernard Rhodes.
