Pharmacologic Pain Management
Pharmacologic pain management is one of many treatment options available to provide pain relief and a better quality of life. Depending on your acute or chronic pain condition, our professional pain management physicians may decide that pain medications are ideal or they may suggest other interventional procedures. It is important to know that medical pain management treatments may not eradicate all of your pain, but instead reduce how much pain you have and how often it occurs. The focus of pharmacologic pain management is on alleviating your pain symptoms by administering prescription (Rx) or over-the-counter (OTC) medications. If this form of pain management is determined the best course of action in treating the condition and severity of your pain, there are a variety of medications from which your physician may choose to administer, prescribe, or recommend.
Interventional Pain Management
With numerous back-and-forth visits between a primary care provider and specialist undergoing ineffective prescription or over-the-counter drug therapies, it can seem impossible to find relief from your acute or chronic pain condition. Interventional pain management can give you hope for a better quality of life. Interventional pain management means that a team comprised of more than two professionals from different healthcare disciplines is dedicated to your ongoing and integrated care. This multidisciplinary treatment approach provides patients with a full range of advanced techniques. The physicians at our pain management center may use interventional services for diagnostic purposes, to determine the source of pain, or therapeutic purposes, to treat painful acute or chronic conditions. Other purposes may be prognostic, to predict the outcome of other interventional treatments, or preemptive, to prevent other pain conditions that could result from certain procedures. Listed below are a few examples of the interventional options available at our pain management center.
Comprehensive Pain Rehabilitation
Depending on your acute or chronic pain condition, daily activities may be too difficult to tackle, your occupation too taxing to maintain, and recreation too excruciating to enjoy. Comprehensive pain rehabilitation can reduce the impact pain has on your quality of life. In fact, pain rehabilitation is centered on helping patients learn to live an active life with relief from pain. At our pain management center, we apply an interdisciplinary approach to long-term pain management, meaning we may recommend a combination of treatments, such as chiropractic care and steroid injections, in certain cases. Whether your condition is acute or chronic, or due to injury, disease, or surgical procedure, the physicians at our pain management center will determine if pain rehabilitation is the best treatment approach.
Alternative Pain Management Therapies and Techniques
Our pain management medical center joins efforts with regional hospital departments and community organizations to provide alternative pain management therapies, giving you, the patient, greater choice among less or non invasive treatment options. It is through this network and a multimodal (or interconnection of different fields of study) team approach that we are able to provide a variety of alternative pain management services, many of which rely on mind-body techniques. Consequently, individual results may vary. Some may find little to no benefit, while others find them to be the solution they have been looking for to lifelong chronic pain relief. Natural and holistic, alternative pain management may be pursued as a standalone procedure or as a complement to other interventional forms of pain treatment with lasting and even permanent results. Acupuncture, massage therapy and biofeedback therapy are few examples of alternative pain management therapies available at our pain management center to help you find relief from your pain and a renewed quality of life.
