Description
Lake Ontario fishing in the first half of 2005 has been fantastic and should continue. Salmon catch rates are very high and it should be a banner Fall LOC.
The Spring Derby was a success and you can find a complete winner list in this edition. A walleye division was added which increased participation in areas where in previous Spring LOC Derbies had been slow, and so a whole new group of fishermen participated in the LOC. This division will definitely continue for 2006.
Changing the spring dates also made fishing all along the shore of Lake Ontario productive. Winning fish were entered from every port and fish were found from the Niagara River to the St. Lawrence River and all points in between. Additionally, the larger schools of smaller fish which have historically moved offshore by this time, were protected. We are continuing with these later dates for 2006.
