Title
African Americans - LittleAfrica.com
Description
LittleAfrica.com was created in the spring of 1997 with the vision of becoming the number one destination for African-Americans online. The concept was inspired by an early 1900s affluent, all-black community in North Tulsa, Oklahoma which was commonly known as "Black Wall Street or "Little Africa". This community of 15,000 contained over 600 businesses, 21 churches, 21 restaurants, 30 grocery stores and two movie theaters, plus a hospital, a bank, a post office, libraries, schools, law offices, a half dozen private airplanes and several millionaires. The dollar circulated 36 to 100 times, sometimes taking a year for currency to leave the community.
On June 21, 1921 this community was tragically bombed - destroying one of the most successful models for black economic empowerment in the history of the United States. As we approach the turn of the 21st century, our mission is to create a new LittleAfrica community and provide an infrastructure that economically empowers African-Americans and fuels black entrepreneurial excellence. LittleAfrica.com is committed to seizing the opportunities offered by the Internet and enabling African-Americans consumers and businesses to benefit from this global medium.
LittleAfrica can help you, or perhaps we can help each other, take advantage of the extraordinary opportunity in front of us . In addition to several years experience in the information technology arena, LittleAfrica's management team has Fortune 500 experience in Sales, Marketing, Finance, Strategic Planning, Manufacturing, and General Management at the likes of Procter & Gamble, Coca Cola, Pepsico, Sara Lee and Kroger. The bottom line is that we are uniquely qualified to build a new global community, expand the market for its participants, and create value for our key stakeholders.
