Ken Blackwell was born February 28, 1948 to George and Dana Blackwell in Cincinnati. His father was a meatpacker and his mother was a stay at home mom and part time nurse. Their first family home was in public housing provided for returning veterans.

Ken graduated from Cincinnati Hughes High School in 1966, and received his bachelor of science degree from Xavier University where he was a standout football player.

While still in college, Ken married his childhood sweetheart Rosa, a romance that has lasted 37 years and produced three talented, successful adult children - Kimberly, Rahshann and Kristin.
