Let me just profess outright that I fully expected to hate this film, but in fact found it really quite enjoyable. Though I get ahead of myself. Just what is this film all about? 300 is director Zack Snyder’s (Dawn of the Dead remake) adaptation of Frank Miller’s (Sin City) graphic novel of the same name. It tells of the battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C., when the Spartans went to war with the advancing Persians. With a backdrop of love and treachery to appease the masses, in a nutshell this is big, blockbusting battles.
