Max Boot is the latest to weigh in on comparisons between President Truman and President Bush; not surprisingly (and, I'd so, not inaccurately) he concludes that President Bush's "unilateralism" is consistent with, not contrary to, President Truman's own record.
Boot points to Truman's less-than-multilateralist record, particularly with respect to the Korean War, for which he secured UN Security Council approval only because Russia was boycotting the Council at the time. He also points to Truman's bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Berlin Airlift, and so forth.
