iLoveLanguages - Your Guide to Languages on the Web

iLoveLanguages' purpose is to list, categorize, and promote Internet resources related to language learning, education, and use. We want to make sure that people who are interested in learning a language can find information, products, and services they can use to help. We also want to promote language education by giving everyone the opportunity to delve into a language other than their own.
iLoveLanguages was born as "The Human-Languages Page" in May of 1994 to address the lack of an organized list of language-learning materials on the Internet. It began with links to 12 Web and gopher sites I had found using the Internet searching tools of the time, followed by this post to the comp.infosystems.www.misc newsgroup asking for other sites people had found or maintained themselves. In the years since its announcement, the HLP grew to contain 2000 links and was visited more than 1000 times a day.
In the spring of 2001, the HLP went through a major site redesign (one of several over the years), and a move to its own Web address - iLoveLanguages.com. It was difficult to decide upon a suitable new address for the HLP - it had to be meaningful, speakable, memorable, and available (no easy task nowadays). In the end, I decided that iLoveLanguages conveyed the principle that the HLP was built upon, was easy to remember, and gave an impression of what the site is about (which is more than I could say for "The Human-Languages Page").
