Dave Olsen, Vice President and General Manager of the RBC Center, announced that the Hurricanes’ Front Lawn Party will not be open for tonight’s Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final at the RBC Center due to excessive amounts of rain accumulated today. “We do not want to encourage fans without tickets to come out as the saturation of rain on the front lawn has created unsafe circumstances,” Olsen stated. Weather permitting, the front lawn party sponsored by Budweiser and 96 Rock, will consist of only a performance by the band Ultraviolet. Televisions and all food normally available on the lawn will not be offered for tonight’s game – minimal beverages will be available. Should the Hurricanes emerge victorious, the band will return to the stage for at least a 30-minute set.
