Your hula hoop workout is more than a fun alternative to the gym… It’s a well-rounded, low impact and highly effective exercise. What you need

To get started hooping, all you need are a hoop and an instructional DVD. Note that a child’s hula hoop cannot be used for this exercise as these are too small and too light for use by adults. Rather, you need heavier, weighted hula hoops for best results.

Beginners should start with a Level 1 DVD in order to learn and practice the basic skills needed for hooping. As you practise, you will be able to perform more difficult moves. Hoops come in a range of colours, weights and sizes and many hoopers end up with several hoops they use for practice and performances.
