About the Academy of Homiletics
The Academy of Homiletics was founded in 1965, and now has a membership of nearly 400. Although we are of North American origin, our membership spans the world. In addition to our Annual Meeting, to be held later this year in Claremont, we are active year 'round in promoting scholarship and teaching excellence in the field of preaching--especially through our journal, Homiletic.
To learn more about what we are up to now, you may want to consult our newsletter and presidential message links below. For those who wish to delve into our history, check out our link to William D. Thompson's work, The Formative Years, which was published on the occasion of our 25th anniversary in 1990. However, since no organization is an island, it might also be useful to follow the links to four other partner organizations with whom we have worked very closely: the Catholic Association of Teachers of Homiletics, the Evangelical Homiletics Society, the Religious Communication Association, and Societas Homiletica, an international society of homileticians.
