Hermitgames creates fun digital things to play with. Our mission is to produce innovative and original videogames, not dictated by commercial pressures. We are one of very few UK independant game developers and we need your support to continue.
Why/Who Bothered?
Hermitgames was founded and is run by me, Matt Verran, the fella there on the left. I created this website as a home for all the games I design and create. After years working on group projects I decided what I really wanted was something completely created by myself, not dependant, related or controlled by anyone else. At the same time I had decided to focus my attention on PC games having previously worked on consoles. I was tired of producing games that were successfull (OPM coverdisk and Game-On) and well liked but only played and enjoyed by a tiny amount of people.
Before All This
My previous projects include Playstation work (yaroze) and Gameboy Advance stuff. I work in the games industry professionally but, as many others have illuminated in great detail, that is rarely the interactive creative heaven outsiders believe, at least in my experience anyway. If you want to make interesting stuff you have to do-it-yourself. On PlayStation Robot Ron, Roller and Ping-Ping were the games I really pulled my finger out on and finally got something done. Before this I always though I could do a game but never got round to finishing the millions of test projects I started. That last 10% really does take 90% of the time.
