Freesaver.com is a directory of freeware screensavers. Freeware authors are welcome to submit their work to this directory. Each submitted entry is carefully tested for quality, viruses, and possible spyware. Only the very best 'clean' freeware files are accepted to our listings. We do not add any installers, toolbars, or other adware to these screensavers. They all come directly from authors' servers. Since we do not collect any email addresses either, no spam is sent to the visitors of this site.
This website originally started 1996 as a simple home page under the name 'Lilli's Free Screensavers'. The idea to collect and review freeware screensavers came from the frustration that those days vast majority of screensavers were shareware while still advertised as 'free'. The handpicked selection of completely free screensavers at 'Lilli's' soon became very popular and by the beginning of 1999 it was necessary to move to a larger commercial server. At the same time the domain name 'Freesaver.com' was adopted. Over the years Freesaver.com has become the top freeware screensaver resource on the Internet.
Since we do not sell anything, require paid memberships, or add hidden adware/spyware to screensavers, the hosting and site maintenance are entirely financed by advertising.
