So many things happen behind the scenes at a Web site — things you’d never know unless someone were to lift the lid and let you in on the secret. Well, friends, I’m going to let you in on this tidbit about my online experience over the past few days. And I can relate it with a clear head now that my long, digital Web-hosting nightmare has come to an end.
A couple of weeks ago I got an e-mail informing me that SprocketHost, the guys who hosted fortt.com, would be closing up shop at the end of February. In case you’re not a Web geek, that basically means my landlords were shuttering the building, and I was to be evicted. My last month’s rent was free, but I’d have to find a new place for my site to live.
Now, this was a real bother because I like the guys at SprocketHost — I went to college with them — and they offered really cheap rates. At one point I’m pretty sure I could get a year’s worth of hosting for about $35. That, my friends, is a ridiculously low price. I immediately set about finding another company to do the hosting.
